Cheating should never be forgiven. Why would you go through all the counseling, trying to fix something that can't be fixed. It will not last. They stay committed for awhile but as time goes on, it will happen again. Reconciliation is temporary. Move on and start over. Its way easier

my partner and i cheated on each other in the past.. we were kids.. it took a lot of work but we forgave each other when it happened.. years have passed and he recently asked me for a break because he says he can’t get over it. I have changed as a person and done all i can to prove im no longer that person from back then, he acknowledges my efforts I’ve done to become a better person than i was back then, but he says he’s been suppressing his feeling & all he sees when he looks at me is what i did in the past. he says he stresses and overthinks about if im interested in other men constantly… but i don’t know how to prove to him im not interested in anyone but him. I don’t know what else i can do. It hurts because I haven’t brought up what he did because I chose to see the good in him & forgive him & move forward in our relationship.

I just found out my 1.5 years of girlfriend has been cheating for almost 6 months. She knew what cheating felt like because she got cheated on on her past relationships. I knew all about her life, I knew her parents, sisters, friends. She said I was the only good thing in her life and it was true according to what I witnessed. She dreamed of us getting married and having kids. She was the kindest person I have ever met. Everyone in my life knew her too and they all believed she was great. I told a small lie to her once and she got devastated for months. I did everything I could to make it up to her and she forgave me. I became the best boyfriend you can imagine after that and we never really had a big fight for almost a year. Everything was perfect, we were at our happiest part of our lives. She even invited me to her sister's wedding and I did go and meet with almost every family member of hers(I'm talking about uncles, cousins, aunts etc.). We stayed at one of her sisters' house for about a week after the wedding. ONLY ONE MONTH after these events, she began lying, going on trips with another guy, talking behind my back etc. (I found out about these now not then) and the only thing I can ask to myself was "how can someone change so quickly?" because she just wasn't the girl I knew, she wasn't the girl I loved. She then said she came to her senses and wanted to break up with the other guy because she loved me but he began to threat her to tell me blah blah (I talked with the other guy on the phone once and he confirmed she said that) but I couldn't really care at that point. She now cries to me tells me she loves me, tells me she knows how disgusting she is and will change. You can call me an idiot but I do still believe she loves me, there's just something wrong with her head I think. I told her to go to a therapist and to not contact me. A very big part of me hates her because I can't unsee her kissing another man but a small part of me still wants to forgive her (I will not) because you can't just turn off your emotions. I feel like I can't really trust another person when I can't even trust HER. Because as you can see we were... happy. Really happy. So yeah all this love thing is dead to me now
